Emilio J. Castilla is the NTU Professor of Management and Professor of Work and Organization Studies at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he is also Co-Director of the Institute for Work and Employment Research.
His research examines how organisational and social processes shape employment outcomes, with particular focus on recruitment, talent development, career mobility, performance, innovation and workplace meritocracy. His work explores how seemingly merit-based organisational practices can produce unintended inequalities, providing important insights into how organisations design and manage fair and effective people systems.
Emilio has published extensively in leading academic journals and teaches across MIT Sloan’s MBA, executive and doctoral programmes, including Strategic Human Resource Management, People Analytics, Talent Management and Organisational Behaviour.
